Tyson Baker is absolutely stoked to be collaborating with Wasatch Theatre Company once again! He was last seen on Wasatch's stage performing the role of Dan in Closer. Cordelia Brand is a theatre teacher at Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City and teaches Youth Theatre at the University of Utah. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Weber State University with a double emphasis in Directing and Acting and a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Theatre from Westminster College. She has taught ages 3 through college and has been directing for 28 years. Cordelia loves to write and dabbles in various forms of the craft. Her play, Net, was recently featured in The Box’s 24-hour theatre festival, Hip to Be Square. Her budding company, Speakeasy Theatre, will debut her new work based on the morality play, Everyman, titled, TRIP or Everywoman’s Worst Dream at this year’s Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival in late July. She is very grateful to have her short play, belated, debut at Wasatch Theatre Company’s Page-to-Stage festival.
Mindy Curtis is a playwright, deviser, director, educator, teaching artist, mother, wife, traveler, adventurer, and knitter. Mindy’s plays have been produced and performed by various theatres and venues across the U.S. including: Stage One, Inc. and University of Wisconsin-Rock County in Janesville, WI; University of Idaho and Left of Civilization Theatre in Moscow, ID; Theatre Undefined, Wasatch Theatre, and Salt Lake Community College, in Salt Lake City, UT. Mindy has also been a teacher, director, and arts administrator across the country for twenty years. Currently Mindy serves her local arts community by holding the position of Past President on the Utah Advisory Council of Theatre Teachers. She lives in Taylorsville, Utah with her talented husband, two spunky kids, siamese cat, and labradoodle puppy.
Ariana Farber- Wasatch Theater Company debut. She holds a BFA from the University of Utah’s Actor Training Program (Magna Cum Laude) and has worked locally and regionally for over 20 years. Most recently she wrote, co-produced, and starred in Role Play at the Salt Lake Fringe Festival, with Immigrant’s Daughter Theater, for which she serves as managing director. STACEY JENSON is thrilled to be in this year’s Page-to-Stage. Previous WTC credits include: Ideation, What We’re Up Against, and Dinner. Other recent SLC theatre roles include: Nora in A Doll’s House, Part Two (SLAC), Sympathizer (Open Door), Gidion’s Knot (Pinnacle), and Ion (The Classical Greek Theatre Festival). Stacey holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Utah's Actor Training Program, an MFA in Acting from American Conservatory Theatre, and an MFA with Distinction in Voice Studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London). Stacey is an Adjunct Professor with the U of U’s Actor Training Program and SLCC’s Theatre Program.
Jim Martin is co-directing this year's festival with his good friend George Plautz. Jim is the proud papa of Jayden, Chuck, Rosie, and Misty (only one of those is human). Jim is currently pursuing his MFA in directing through the University of Idaho at Moscow. He sends love to his Dad.
Jesse Nepivoda is an actor and playwright from Washington DC. He and his work have appeared on stages throughout the United States and Canada. Much love to Isabel.
George Plautz has been writing, directing, acting, and producing for Wasatch Theatre Company since 2000. He also helped create, wrote for, and performed with Bookspeak Theater Company and the Starry-Eyed Puppets. Three of his full-length plays and numerous of his one-act and ten-minute plays have been produced. He took a three year post/pre-retirement job to create a drama program at a high school in Nanjing China. After returning to Salt Lake City from China in 2018, he has been pursuing playwriting and cooking full-time including a month-long residency at Dairy the Hollow Writer's Retreat in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 2021. He is happy to be back doing live theater with Wasatch.
Jady Brooks is delighted to be working with the WTC again! Following a role in Teacher Truths, and participating in the 24 hour theater festival, Jady would like to thank them for hours upon hours of fun, and the opportunity to enjoy live shows. In addition, she would like to thank her family and friends for their support. Special thanks to Russ, for all the time spent running lines, and being generally wonderful.
Simon Rose is excited to be joining Wasatch Theatre Company. He earned his BA at BYU-Idaho, performing in shows such as Bielzy & Gottfried, and Clever Jack and the Pirates. Later he developed his voice acting abilities performing old time radio shows with WBW Theater. More recently Simon has been focusing on independent film ventures, as both an actor and special effects makeup artist. He spends most of his time performing at University of Utah as a standardized patient, to assist training students in medical and psychiatric simulations. He can be reached at McCarty Talent Agency.
Originally from Scotland, Morag Shepherd is the artistic director of Immigrant’s Daughter Theatre, and holds an MA in Theatre Criticism from Brigham Young University. She is a member of the Plan-B writers lab, where her play FLORA MEETS A BEE (NEA recipient) toured throughout Utah schools, and NOT ONE DROP (David Ross Fetzer grant recipient) has performed. Her play DO YOU WANT TO SEE ME NAKED (Critics Choice Award, and Best Solo Performance) has performed in Salt Lake City, Tucson, and The United Solo Festival in New York City. Her site-specific play, CHERRY WINE IN PAPER CUPS performed outside the Salt Lake City library summer 2020, her immersive play, A BRIEF WALTZ IN A LITTLE ROOM performed throughout 2019 in Salt Lake City (The Utah Review top ten moments of 2019), as part of a collaboration with Umbrella Theatre Company and the Utah Arts Alliance.
Madeline Thatcher is happy to be back at Wasatch Theatre Co., and especially pleased to return to Page to Stage. Some of her favorite past theatre roles include Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Diana Berry in Anne of Green Gables, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Estelle in John Paul Sartre's No Exit, and Margaret Truman in the award-winning Salt Lake City Fringe Festival show The Secret Son of Hitler. She also portrayed the titular character in The Cate Morland Chronicles, a contemporary web series based on Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, as well as two featured in roles in the Utah-shot films Little Women: A Modern Movie, and Twice the Dream. She hopes this show makes you laugh (and maybe cry—but mostly laugh).
Liz Whittaker has been training in intimacy direction and consent-based practices since 2019. She has over 60 hours of training from Theatrical Intimacy Education, Intimacy Directors & Coordinators, and Intimacy Coordinators of Color. Her intimacy and fight work has been seen/heard in The Birthday Party (Westminster College), Footloose (West Valley Arts), Little Happy Secrets (Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival), Safe (An Other Theater Company), Moulin Rouge (BYU Mask Club), and Gas Light (Westminster College).
